"We see the colour and we hear the sound. But for those who can't see, let them hear the colour."
The project came about keeping in mind visually impaired people. The idea of painting for them is something alien. With this, they can paint or draw, hearing the colours.
Every colour corresponds to a particular frequency of sound. And so the colours can be distinguished based on the way they sound. This is used as a reference to make a colour palette from which a colour can be chosen to paint.
A brush is provided with three knobs which when rotated, results in a resultant frequency. These frequencies correspond to particular colours and thus, a colour is selected on the screen. Movement of brush is tracked to define the brush strokes on the screen.
A brush with one knob was designed which had a predefined range of frequencies. A mapping of frequency and colour was done, so to select a particular colours, frequency corresponding to it was set.
Colour is selected in the similar manner as of Digital Painting, with only difference that, actual colour is selected and then sprayed on canvas.
