“Visited a restaurant with friends and debated over leaving a tip and how much for a waiter?” Is it just my story or a common one?

The project came about while visiting a busy restaurant in Ahmedabad, Gujrat. It was interesting to observe the routine of a waiter, though similar everyday but customers and colleagues making it different.

Process

We visited the restaurant daily for a week and a half at different times of the day. We followed a waiter throughout his day and made note of his interactions with other people. Using a DAT and a handy recorder, we recorded different sounds that he came across daily. Sounds of kitchen, environment in the dining area, his way of taking orders and few more were the ones we focused on.
These sounds were then edited and processed and few special effects were added. Some of the sounds and dialogues were rerecorded in a studio and a final sound track was produced.
